Not Bankroll, just buy-in
If you were going to go to play poker for one night, just to try it, how much would you take (in terms of BB) to buy in with?

Re: Not Bankroll, just buy-in
I'd take 50 BB's. Buy-in for 20-30 (whatever is convient for the limit you are playing) and have 20-30 in reserve. This is probably more than you need (unless you are a bad player or very unlucky ).

Re: Not Bankroll, just buy-in
id want to buy into most games with atleast 25bb. depending on how long i was going to stay and how much i was going to drink id like to have another 25bb for another buyin. oh yeah dont forget the beer money. what game you are going to play would also be a consideration whether its pl, nl, or limti.

I'm looking at a $2/$4 limit hold'em game (at Canterbury, if anyone in the TC area wants to chime in)

Re: Not Bankroll, just buy-in
Whatever amount that you feel the beer, nachos and entertainment are worth to you. You should probably consider it lost money, because there is a good chance it will be.
Have some fun and go all in with 7,2 offsuit and flop a fullhouse. |

Re: Not Bankroll, just buy-in
When Im away at college funds are low and I sometimes end up buying into the 2-4 game at Foxwoods with 50 dollars. This is the lowest I like to go...Its hard to play optimally with this amount. I like to have about 30bb. 120 in a 2-4 should have you set for a while as long as you don't play way too many hands. Sometimes it is handy to have enough for another buy in to keep yourself able to make the best play. But, if you bought SSH you shouldn't need more money just more victims.J/k haha.(its a good book though) Sometimes for me its psycological. I feel I play better when I always have one eye on my stack. I play more solid with less money, not just tight.

Re: Not Bankroll, just buy-in
I'd bring $200, buy-in for $100 and have the rest ready if you happen to need it.

And dont freak out if you lose your first $100. It can happen easily.
