Default Is Bush conservative?

Going by traditional conservative politics, is Bush a conservative president?

No. And it's not close. He's not compassionate, either.

Well the hard core right-wingers say he's expanded government and is less conservative than Clinton. Under the Clinton years I think there was a reduction in federal spending.

He's only conservative when it comes to abortion. That's it. Other than that he's an extreme leftist if you ask me.

The irony is that many liberals are only liberal when it comes to abortion. Outside of abortion, they are often more like authoritarian conservatives.

It's almost as if abortion were some kind of litmus test that overshadowed all other considerations for soi-disant "liberals" and "conservatives".

Who cares? This is what conservatism has become today. It doesn't matter if Goldwater would have called Bush "conservative" or not.

huge increases of federal spending have nothing to do with the president. Congress appropriates the money for the bill and he has no controll, most of his bills he proposes are very small in money terms and get blown up by pork in congress.

Foriegn wars is not a sign of liberals.

Dont know what your getting at with civil liberties, guessing the patriot act but its ok liberals dont understand that bill.

OH, yeah...it's LIBERALS who don't understand; care to enlighten us with what else others don't understand, as you seem to have a very firm grasp of executive powers.
