Default Freaking huge pot (won by player who kept beating me)

Check out this pot. This player (Player2) was the one who was beating me in my losing streak at higher limits ( link ). I suspect people were gunning for him, that's how he got so much action with this hand. Someone probably had AK, etc... Anyways, maybe there was collusion? But I don't think Player2 colluded, he raised/played some aweful hands.

What is the point of you putting up at least three posts complaining about losing more money than you can afford to lose?

It appears that you are upset that this player won when dealt AA as well as trashy hands? The problem is yours, not his.

I can't follow the action and I don't have the time or
effort to decipher the description. Why not skip all
the boring details and just summarize what happened?
It's very boring to read the computer printouts. Just
a suggestion.

Yes, you're right. A summary:

A loose-aggressive maniac who was hitting his hands gets dealt AA against another player's QQ, and two people who folded on the river. Capped every street, final pot of almost 40BB ($1200) at a 15/30 table. I suspect the others were "gunning" for him.

About Dynasty's comment, yes I was pissed that this guy kept winning. I've been playing 3 years and stuff like this shouldn't affect me, but unfortunately it does sometimes. Maybe it is the fact that the limit is too high. When IS it good to move up in limits (not talking about BR-wise) emotionally?

Well when you give lots of action you get it back in return. Just rememeber that maniacs get real hands to.
$1200 is a large pot in a 15-30 game especially when there
are no flopped sets or straights against overpairs.

You are playing too high if the loses are affecting your
lifestyle, your ability to pay expenses, your relationship
with partners, family members etc. Nobody likes to lose.
I get pissed of when I lose, but the next day I am able
to go on with my life and funcion like nothing happened and
I don't have to make a cash advance on my credit card to
pay my bills or get another buy in.

Generally, I feel if you can't walk off a bad beat in 5 minutes away from the table (go to the bathroom, get some water, etc), you need to re-evaluate your emotional state/attachment to your game.

I used to "tilt" easy - get a big hand cracked, and make some loose calls which would cost me more. Then I realized (by specifically writing down how much loose calls cost me each night) what that did to my bankroll, and found I've never let a beat linger (too much for more than 5 minutes). A fellow player once suggested when it happens to you, remember a time you've done it to someone else (we've all done it). Sounds like good advise to me.

It sounds like to me, not only the money, but that you haven't seen a game with that type of aggressive player that often. It takes time to adjust and learn how to play that type of game.

Maybe it is the fact that the limit is too high. When IS it good to move up in limits (not talking about BR-wise) emotionally?

There are a lot of different approaches to bankroll management and selecting limits. In my opinion, the old 300 big bets bankroll is not adequate, given how most players treat their bankroll.

Personally, I use 1000 big bets to determine whether I have the bankroll to play a game seriously. In other words, I wouldn't play 20/40 on a regular basis unless I had $40,000. This might seem like overkill, but when you can easily lose 150 big bets, there really isn't much room for error with a net worth of 300 big bets.

Now you can do a lot of fancy thing, like consider your future income (outside of poker) as part of your virtual bankroll. And you can certainly get by on a much smaller bankroll IF you never take any money out of it. And if you are willing to step down in limits religously, never take shots, and practice game selection (sometimes not even playing) then you can probably go with the 300 big bet number.

But the simple truth is that most poker players aren't that diligent.
