Re: Nervous!
As a fellow beginner I want to share this with you in case you are experiencing something close. I've recently read GSiHE. It's a very nice book - it gave me a lot of ideas. And then feeling my head full with all those "protect the hand", "bet for value" etc I ran to the tables and... promptly lost more than 100BB in one session!! What happened?? Well, what happened was that I got all those new ideas, but I had no idea when to use them. And, more importantly, when not to use them. Not knowing when not to use them meant that during any hand I was trying to apply all those ideas and making what must've been a record amount of mistakes.
Solutions to this problem? First of all, take a break, sleep on it. Then start playing, but return to the normal style. And only then, slowly start to introduce new skills. FWIW, it helped me. I'm reading SSHE now. And no, I'm not going to force myself to play it right now. I know it takes me some time to digest this stuff, so I'm going to give myself this time. Hope this helps. |

Re: Nervous!
I'm not really complaining
And I would post some hands if I knew how to. I remember party having an option to save a hand after it was completed, I can't seem to find that option on the prima site I'm playing at now. I know you guys want to help , that's why I post here in the first place. I'm sorry if I came off as whiny but trust me, I'm not whining. Just found it funny it went so bad last night Today is a new day! I'll play by the book and start building my roll again. |

Re: Nervous!
Ah right, I play on a Prima skin and you need to go to the 'Playcheck' option from the menu button. It has a little red tick in a black box next to it as an icon. Once you click that it's quite easy to understand and it will allow you to download all your hands played from that day or previous days.
My problem is that I don't know of a converter that makes the text you get into the prety descriptions you see on the forum. You will end up with something like this that is not that easy to read: *** Export for: irontoof Game: Texas Holdem Game number: 480079413 *** Date: 8/31/2005 10:04:45 PM Game: 480079413: Table: Donald Duck Normal Table No Limit 0.10/0.20 Rake: 0.10 Seat: 1 pleasehelpme Seat: 2 niknum Seat: 4 lenken (Dealer) Seat: 5 -Timo Seat: 6 pigfaced Seat: 7 Kristos Seat: 8 beldhar77 Seat: 9 snakeaye Seat: 10 irontoof ------------------ OpeningBetRound ------------------ -Timo : Sits out pigfaced : Sits out Kristos : Posts small blind 0.05 beldhar77 : Posts big blind 0.10 snakeaye : Folds irontoof : Calls for 0.10 pleasehelpme : Calls for 0.10 niknum : Folds lenken : Calls for 0.10 Kristos : Folds beldhar77 : Checks ------------------ Flop ------------------ beldhar77 : Checks irontoof : Bets 0.10 pleasehelpme : Calls for 0.10 lenken : Calls for 0.10 beldhar77 : Folds ------------------ Turn ------------------ irontoof : Checks pleasehelpme : Checks lenken : Bets 0.60 irontoof : Calls for 0.60 pleasehelpme : Folds ------------------ River ------------------ irontoof : Checks lenken : Checks lenken : Shows cards irontoof : Shows cards ------------------ Showdown ------------------ lenken [ KS, KC, 4H, 4S, 7D - Two Pair ] irontoof [ AS, KS, QS, 4S, 2S - Flush ] ------------------ Result ------------------ -Timo Showed Cards pigfaced Showed Cards Kristos Mucked Cards beldhar77 Mucked Cards snakeaye Mucked Cards irontoof Showed Cards (Winning) 1.85 pleasehelpme Mucked Cards niknum Mucked Cards lenken Showed Cards ------------------ Community Cards ------------------ [ 4H, 2S, KS, 4S, 2C ] ------------------ Players Cards ------------------ -Timo [ -, - ] pigfaced [ -, - ] Kristos [ -, - ] beldhar77 [ -, - ] snakeaye [ -, - ] irontoof [ QS, AS ] pleasehelpme [ -, - ] niknum [ -, - ] lenken [ KC, 7D ] If anyone can tell me how to easily convert them I'd appreciate it as I have had hands in the past that I wanted advice on but didn't want to post this mess. The Bison converter does not seem to work with this format. Thanks |

Re: Nervous!
I only scanned the thread quickly so forgive me if this has already been mentioned by someone else.
If you're scared by people betting why not set aside some money and use it just for fun at the tables, use it to loosen up a bit and help you feel more comfortable. Try playing in different styles, be aggressive, be a maniac whatever makes you feel you can deal with a raise. Obviously you shouldn't play this way normally but it might help you relax more and not sweat the big pots. |

Re: Nervous!
I now play strictly by the book pre-flop and count my odds post-flop. I feel way more secure this way. I realize I was to lose when I made the OP.
