Default Red Sox Keep Varitek

Good move. Good man. Good player.

But they traded Dave Roberts, without whom, the curse would still be alive.

But Dave Roberts really wanted to go home to San Diego. It isn't like they dumped the guy. They gave him exactly what he asked for.

yeah, but they probably should have kept him too, unless he was going to be cranky in Boston.

The Varitek resigning is huge. Boston is starting to look real good again, especially if Wade Miller is healthy. Damn.

"especially if Wade Miller is healthy"

He's not. Do you really think Houston wouldn't have kept him if he was even remotely healthy? Dude is at least a year away. I'll believe it when I see it.

a year? Damn, I really hadn't heard much about him, I just heard the signing. Where did you hear a year away? Did he have surgery?

I didn't officially hear "a year away". I just know that if he's signing for 1.5m and Houston, who knows his situtation better than anyone, lets him get away anyways, and things are written about his torn rotator cuff, I have little doubt that dude won't be productive this year.

Damn good thing they kept him. Heart and soul of the team. I was wearing a Tek jersey throughout the playoffs.

They look tough.

He had surgery in June for a frayed rotor cuff. Epstein said that his physical looked good, good strength and range of motion. He'll start throwning after Jan 1.

Theo must think there is some expectation that he'll get something out of him this year because it's only a one year deal.
