Ugh, my bad. I got the turn and the flop confused. You're right -- nobody has an inside straight on this flop. The raise mostly discourages overcards from playing hit-to-win.

Yes, but I'm just having a hard time envisioning what type of inside strait draw your three-betting preflop opponent could hold? I think if a raise is correct it would be to force a hand like AK to decide between calling two and folding, thus not letting him see the turn cheaply.

When CO makes it three, you've learned a great deal about where you actually stand in this hand, and it makes folding the turn even easier. Without knowing how strongly CO likes his hand, I might be tempted to continue with the hand if the turn isn't as scary as this one.

I agree with you in this aspect. Raising the flop offers a nice advantage in knowing exactly where you are. This is really the only reason I could think of to raise the flop, to make sure your behind enabling you to safely fold the turn when it goes bet-call.
