Default 1/2 6max table selection...

Just getting into 6 max, and playing the 1/2 limits...

I'm starting to realize, more and more, how important table selection is... aside from the obvious - leaving when there is nothing but tight asses and avg pot size is really small - does anyone have any tips for picking tables? Hell, i'm not even good at recognizing when I should leave a table...

Every table is good at the 1/2 6-Max.

Did you make that just for this thread? Or was it laying around?

And yes, no table is a bad table.

A good rule to use is to assume the table is bad and sit down. Change tables if this is not true.

Table selection is important,

However its dependant on your style of play, some players actually like games with LAGS present, others dont,

Some like 5 total fishy calling stations at there table, others like 2-3, that way you pick your hands against them, when theres to many you dont have such an idea of what hands your up against.

Obvious ones are to have the overly tight players in the blinds,
Also you dont want Lags to your left as then they have position on you, you want to pick your spots against them not vice versa.

I dont like the really big pot games its to swingy for me, others love em.

Well i'm already playing where I just sit down at any random table, and the swings are always pretty much in series of 25-30bbs up or down. I'm up but I feel like I could be winning more if I could choose my tables more wisely, I suppose the ability to figure out when a table is shitty quickly is simply a skill you pick up over time... was just curious if anyone had any little tips on what exactly to look for when you first sit down to tell whether or not a table is any good.

Now that I have a nice computer with plenty of ram I can practice much better table selection. I open up 3 skind, the one I play at and 2 more for obeservation. I look for tables with 3+ 40% players, I only play 2 tables so this is not difficult. I leave when the table starts adapting to my play, LAGs (my preferred opponent) starting respecting my raises and fold more against me, loose passives either calling down more or folding more (depending on what I've been showing down) When the table tightens up like this it is time to move on. Since I have like 10 other tables going I look for either an excellent game to wait for (50+ table VPIP) or a 4 or 5 handed game where I have good position on a LAG or a couple LPs

player reads are much more important than table selection at 6 max.

sit down anywhere, leave if you discover it's a bad game.
