Pair of Kings with an Ace on the Flop
This is my first hand post. I usually play 3/6 live. I just got poker tracker and started playing the .5/1 PP games to get myself situated. I feel like I'm playing very bad. I see a ton of mistakes in this hand, but I want to make sure I didn't miss any. Anyway, No reads cause I'm lazy, sorry.

I think I'm check/folding the river. Calling after he raises seems crazy to me.

"calling after he raises... crazy..."
I know. I mean, he could only be calling with a weak A or a flush draw right? Maybe a straight draw. The A of clubs makes two of those hands! I figured he would have raised an Ace at some point, but even so. I suck. - Jason |

Re: Pair of Kings with an Ace on the Flop
Against six other players with only five outs and a two-flush on the board, it would be hard to find an instance in which you could call a bet on the flop. Maybe if the BB bets and everyone calls, you'll be getting 13-1 on a call -- and even then you're 44-3, or more than 14-1 to catch.
With a rainbow board, you're getting 44-5, or just under 9-1. Given how many players saw the flop, your justification for calling a flop bet is significantly lower. But with this board, I check-fold here probably 99 percent of the time. |

Re: Pair of Kings with an Ace on the Flop
I hope those of you advocating to check/fold the river are also admitting that betting out the flop here in this spot against six players is not a wise move on any level.

Pat, I see your point. Would you check/call or check/raise the flop?

[/ QUOTE ] It's not a good move. There's an overcard out there and a flush pos. I'm beat. I'm tilting. What do I want on the turn besides a non-club King? Club or no club, this turn is likely to get raised... I was way off today. My thought on the turn was, "A Q! Great! Now I have a gutshot draw too!" Maybe tomorrow, I'll post some thought provoking hands instead of these self-bashing ones. My only defense is that I had just played some short handed tables the day before and that over aggression was still in my blood. - Jason |

Re: Pair of Kings with an Ace on the Flop
Yeah I'm not arguing that at all. The EV of the flop bet is a lot closer to zero then the river bet/call is. That is why I focused on the river play. The flop bet really isn't that bad but not one I'd make.
