Default Re: quick one: set on a flush board

Help me understand betting the turn.

If you don't fill up and are against a flush

If you check and call both turn and river, you lose 2BB against a flush without filling up.

If you bet you will get raised and lose 2BB to a flush, not concidering the times it's two back to you when two people have good flushes.

The times you fill up on the river

You check the turn and win 3BB with a check raise on the river.

You bet the turn, are raised, and then check raise the river to win 4BB....ohhhhhh (I will still post this even though I think I figured it out, tell me if im close).

As long as you fold the river UI, right?

The problem is that it is headsup on a highly bluffable board. You have a strong hand and would like to show it down, rather than allowing villain to exploit his position to steal the pot. It's very unlikely that he has a better hand than you if he doesn't have the flush, so he only has to push you off about 20% of the time for his line to be profitable for him at your expense. I think the fold equity that villain has against you is worth more than the extra bet you can make.
