Default What\'s the best line of play?

Lets say that the PF raising villan is TAG. Not a rock, but not a loose cannon. Something like 18/8. What is your line of play here?

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO raises, 2 folds, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (8.40 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero ????

Bet out or go for the checkraise?

I would bet out, you probably have the best hand now and could take it here.

What happens if you check, and everyone checks behind you and A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] comes on the turn?

Checkraise. The preflop raiser has at least two overcards so he will often bet here. You have a much better chance of getting rid of other hands with two overcards if you force them to call a double bet.

Checkraise and I don't think it's close.

Betting out makes no sense according to your own argument. If an A or K come on the turn you were screwed anyway because AK had odds to call your flop bet. If enough people call, it even has odds to call your turn bet if you bet out again.

I think you have to check-raise here for a hope of taking down the pot. If you take a careful look at the board, you can see how you really need to get some of your opponents to fold. Any overcard could beat you. Any spade could beat you. Any 3 makes you lose to a lone 6. Even a 2 could conceivably make you lose to a lousy 53 - though not likely. A 6 may get you a split pot, although it's not a bad card to see. Even hitting your set could lose to a straight. If you let all your opponents hang around, you have to dodge about 40 cards.

I like a checkraise here as many of my fellow posters have said. You can eliminate people that way.

Cheers,

I would imagine CO's gonna bet. Go for the checkraise.
