Default Post flop play - How Do Y\'all Get Experience

The Basic Strategy is +EV at my level ($11/$22). But push-fold is not conducive to learning post-flop skills. I find once I get to the flop and have to actually DO something other than push (God forbid), I go into the tank and/or bleed off chips.

I've been dabbling in some 6-max $25 NL rings at Party. Lots more post-flop play.

How do you guys do it?

I play some limit and NL ring games. The main reason is I want to improve my game over all aspects and not just push/fold sng's. I think SNGs are the most profoitable by strength. Read a couple books and play some ring games.

I should be playing some 6-max $25 too, but right now I just can't, so I lurk @ the MHNL & SSNL forums. This post is a nice starting point.

I mean its easiest to make money playing SNG's than NL or Limit assuming similar levels. If you learn a good strategy for SNG's you dont really have to be that good at poker.

I agree completely, at the $11s and $22s. I do fine despite myself. In fact, I think post-flop play just gets one into trouble because of the small chip-stacks. But, if I ever want to move up to the 55s and higher, I would think I need to be good at poker.

I found that playing limit and pot-limit helped me better my postflop play.

If you want to get postflop experience in SNG format, try a site like Stars or Full Tilt where you start with 1500 chips and the levels go by 5 or 6 minutes instead of 10 hands. It takes a lot longer to get to pushfold poker, and there is sometimes even postflop skills involved when it's heads up.
