Default write now, or wake up early?

ok here's the deal. it's 2:15am. i'm tired and have a 2,500 word paper due at 11:30am. i currently have 62 words. realistically whether i start writing now or later i'll only be able to produce 1,500 words on this topic.

i'm not doing anything right now. i can't really think so i'm just playing poker. i don't really care what i get on this paper as long as i pass. even if i hand something in and only get 40% i'd be satisfied. i'm not exactly going for the dean's list.

so do i just giver tonight and finish it, or do i wake up around 7 and make a mad dash? if i do it tonight it will be a very slow process and i will probably be up until about 8am. if i do it in the morning i have a time limit to meet so it will just be a mad scramble.

screw it, i'm doing it in the morning

I'm in the same boat right now. I'm putting together a power point presentation for noon and I cant decide wether to finish it or get some sleep first.

I would work better if I sleep a little and wake up early to do it, but the last time I tried that I overslept and had to type a paper up on the subway ride.

This is the suckiest post since Sucky the Postman got stuck in an industrial vacuum pump on the way to Sucktown

PS. I had no problem with it until you edited it to answer your own question instead of just deleting it.

Write till 3am then take a 1 hour nap.
Write till 4:30am then take a 1 hour nap.
Write till 6 am then take a 1 hour nap.
Write till you are done.

You get 3 hours sleep plenty for anyone plus spacing it out gives you more rem sleep. I want to see a copy of the paper also as messing with your brain like this should have neat results.

As a procrastination specialist, you should stay up until 11:30 or until the paper is done. Sleep can be postponed until a later time. The bottom line is don't puss out; suck it up and do it until the job is done.

I must ask, what is the paper on? Doubling as a professional paper writer, I may have something that could point you in the right direction...PM for details

Unfortunately, I don't have that topic on file.

My best advice is to:
A) Find one good source and paraphrase the [censored] out of it
B) Go to amazon.com, search for books on the subject, use the "look inside the cover option" to gain access to the copyright information
C) Use the recently acquired information as references to make the paper seem like it was compiled from a wide variety of sources. Use internal citations creatively.

Also, eat an adderall if you can get one at this hour...it will stem the procrastination and help you meet your deadline. concerta is another alternative, as is sudafed

good luck

Whenever I do homework, I prefer the mad dash at the end. It's the only time I am actually motivated and I get so much done so fast.

It's always better to get your work out of the way first. It means you can fully enjoy your pleasures without the idea of the work nagging at you and cutting back the joy. Poker, sleep, whatever, will be much more enjoyable once you've gotten the paper out of the way. This is something I've learned the hard way and will probably learn the hard way a million more all over again. But it's true.

Do everything 100%. When you want to relax or have fun, having work you still need to do hanging over your head makes a good thing half-assed and sucky. So you might as well just do the damn work and then really enjoy yourself once you've earned it. It's damn nice to feel you've earned your right to enjoy. Makes it extra sweet. It sucks trying to enjoy stuff while thinking you're an idiot or a lazy ass bum who really knows way, way better than this.

exactly. i actually get stuff done.

i'd rather spend 4 hours and get 3.5 hours worth of work done, than spend 10 hours and get 5 hours worth of work done.
