If you make assumtions sure, or if you look at it like a normal hand post your could post suggestions instead of post advice.

Check/Fold the river most times. Check/Call on occasion if he bets too small. Bet small into him if he's the sort of player that will only raise with a big hand.

He has a lot of chips, you probably have some reads that we haven't got.

Hey Eric, instead of being and idiot, how about you comment on the hand? I don't consider this a bad beat because I still have the option to fold, or in some cases beat a busted straight, flush draw, or overpair, the last one very unlikely considering his betting pattern. I'm just looking for someone with half a brain to post their opinion on the hand. Thanks douche.

well, the title of your post (this is a joke) suggests that you are focused more on the fact that you lost after flopping a straight than real strategy.

i would fold preflop, this is a terrible hand to get involved with, and the horror is exacerbated by being out of position.

after the flop, this check-small raise doesnt seem like a good line.

for one, if you check you allow the flush draws to proceed. not such a big deal, since you have a diamond.

more importantly though, the raise to 270 i don't like. what could your opponents have? they could have nothing, in which case your raise just makes the worse hands go away. or they could have a flush draw, an overpair, or possible a set or two pair. in any of those cases you should reraise all-in since they will all likley call.

personally i would have let the flop to punish flush draws, shove and raise, and if called i would check the turn to invite them to bet, especially if an overcard comes. i this case i am shoving the turned nine since it any nine now calls.

I suggest the following:
-Fold preflop
-Fold the river
-Stop being a douche

This is a bad beat post. You're probably behind on the river but I'd make a small and fold if villan comes over the top.

Do you seriously consider folding this preflop getting 5 to 1?

[/ QUOTE ]

absolutely. there are almost no hands where you flop something that will extract more value, and 5 - 1 isn't enough to chase 2 pair, 3 of a kind. also, you need to think of this form a tourney perspective not just a chips perspective. this is a terrible hand to get involved with early imo.
