Questionable turn play with QJ
Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, 4 folds, Hero completes, BB checks. Flop: (4 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero bets, BB calls, UTG+1 raises, MP1 folds, Hero calls, BB calls. I consider my bet on the flop pretty standard. Turn: (5 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets, Hero raises, BB folds, UTG+1 3-bets, Hero caps, UTG+1 calls. I put UTG on Kx on the flop and wasn't sure about the BB, I was pretty sure it would get checked to UTG and I could raise to force BB into folding 2 cold. I was surprised to have it 3-bet back to me after the check-raise, but I capped thinking that AQ, KK, or KQ would have been raised PF What do you guys think of the turn play and what should my action be on the river? |

Re: Questionable turn play with QJ
I like your line. I would bet out the turn. The only hand I see beating you is 55, and if he's got a weaker Q it's time to get paid.

Re: Questionable turn play with QJ
My reason for the check-raise was that if the BB was on a straight draw I would be giving him 6:1 to call rather than trying for the check-raise and giving him 3.5:1 when he needed 5:1 to call.

I'm sorry, I meant bet out the river. Words are hard.

What am I missing? |

Re: Questionable turn play with QJ
Its 3 handed, your QJ could be the best hand. Bet out.

Re: Questionable turn play with QJ
I was facing 3 opponents none of which raised preflop, one played for free. I feel like my hand could be the best hand here. I just had a friend say that he might try a c/r on the flop if he planned on staying in, what do you guys think of that line?

That's a pretty narrow range to put BB on. [/ QUOTE ] Agree. And the pot is pretty small. I would like getting along both players to the river. |

Re: Questionable turn play with QJ
Given that I don't like your cap, I would have bet out on the turn and called his raise and chen check called the river.
