I did fold, but what do you put him on? He limped behind a bunch of others, so probably not a big pair, and he didn't bet a rag flop checked to him, so probably not top pair or a pair bigger than 8's. You think he has 33-77 more often than a pure steal? It's been checked to him twice now, so he probably thinks the board didn't hit anybody.

It doesn't really matter. He could've had an 8 he wasn't willing to bet on the flop, or a 4, or a pocket pair, whatever. It's simply not worth going broke here.

Likely being ahead and correctly calling are not one and the same. You may be ahead of him here, but it's simply an unnecessary risk. You still have more than 13 BB and you're facing a bet that will cost you all of it. There will definitely be better spots later.

Fold. The only thing you can beat is a bluff and even then you may lose on the river. You aren't even close to getting the correct odds to snap off a bluff here. You aren't desperate. There is just no reason for this.
