Default $1000 gone in 30 seconds!!!

Hello,

I’m panicking here... so I thought I’d write a quick post hoping this has happened to others... and hoping that I’ll hear it’s no big deal... happens all the time... and... that it will turn out fine.

A half-hour ago we deposited $1000 into Empire Poker from my girlfriends Neteller Account. The deposit took an unusually long time to complete... and rather than complete... we received a message saying that the Neteller transaction was declined due to a Connection Reset... just go back and try again.

Before trying again, I went and checked her Neteller Account. The $1000 was gone. The transaction DID go through to Pay-Pro. But the Cashier in her Empire account reads $0!

She had to walk out the door to go to work right after this happened, so when I called Neteller to alert them and find out what should be done... of course they could only help me with my account and not hers. I knew that when I phoned but felt I couldn’t just sit around wondering what to do next. I thought I could at least alert them so they could put a note on her file or something.

She’s a waitress... and won’t be able to call Neteller for about 4 hours. I think I’ll go crazy long before that...

I did send Empire and email telling them that the money had been taken but not credited to her account. No word yet of course... so that’s why I’m writing here...

Has this ever happened to any of you guys?

Any comments... good or bad... will be appreciated!!!

Thanks for reading.

Kindly,
EZ

Be cool. I would start worrying after a day or two. Just email the transcation number to Neteller and Empire and it'll be ok.

Take it easy, the money won't disappear. This stuff happens sometime, though very rarely. Send an e-mail to Empire (ideally from her e-mail account pretending to be her, otherwise there'll be more questions), and they'll resolve it.

Don't worry. There is a complete audit trail for these type of transactions. It may take a bit of calling to sort things through, but if the money was debited from Neteller then Neteller has to show a credit to Empire. If it never reached Empire, then Neteller will have to move the money there or credit it back to your Neteller account.

However, this does underline the "looseness" of the whole transfer system. The U.S. banking system has an automated recovery/confirmation process that guarantees the transfer of money. I would say this is pretty hokey considering the amount of money that is involved. Any good systems programmer should have programmed the system in such a way that such a thing should not happen. If what you say actually happened in the manner you related, it doesn't speak much for the durability and reliability of this transfer system.

Who hasn't this happened to? I just call Neteller and they give me a transaction number to give to the site so they can verify it. No big deal except for some extra time.

Don't worry at all.

Well if it happens this often, then it is _really_ hokey.

This morning I see four high flushes (one is a straight flush) back to back on Poker Stars. Now I am observing the "state-of-the-art" poker financial depot (Neteller) dropping transactions. Is this really on the up-and-up or is this industry just very new? Or is this just gambling?

It's usually the fault of the gambling site rather than Neteller I find. I've had no problems resolving it with little hassle though. Not really a big deal to me. It has happened three times to me out of many hundreds of transactons, so it's not rampant.

I've seen lots of things too. Online and live.

I've seen a fat guy with a hot girlfriend, that was really bizarre.

It's on the up-and-up, but their software systems (especially the disparate integration pieces) suck. However, the more respectable organizations (Neteller, Party, Empire, etc) will make sure they resolve these inevitable issues pretty quickly when they arise.

lol. Well, I'm ready for the girls if that is part of the deal.

But seriously, here I am playing maybe a few hundred hands online and up pops this "person" who comes on in, gets a couple of high flushes, beating a couple of other flushes (both also high) and then leaves. It's a play money game - so who cares. But ...

I am suppose to believe in: 1) Probabilities (ala Sklansky) and 2) random number generators. So what are the chances of this happening back to back like it did? These are off-shore gambling houses. Is it too far-fetched to believe (in this day-and-age of Enrons, etc.) that a RNG may be skewed? Just a little bit to encourage big hands and big rakes?

So, maybe this belongs in another thread, but which outside accounting firm is auditing these gaming places (hopefully not Andersen) and confirming that everything is tight. There is lots of money involved here, and before I go into the "money game", I would like to know that someone is fooling around with the RNGs.

I would also feel comfortable with any site that is entirely run by a U.S. based company since they have LOTS to lose if they are ever found out. Particularly if Trump is involved. He would probably have to give up his show.

As for Neteller and the Casinos, if they expect me to transfer money, they have to have in place at least 30 year old technology - if not state-of-the-art. What is being described here is kindergarten stuff and if they don't know better, then they should. It really looks third-rate to me.
