I'm not sure about that here, as he could be raising for a free card on this draw heavy board, and I'm not inclined to give it to him.

That's why I bet the turn...should I have raised the flop instead?

Well, I think you are probably ahead. By just calling the flop raise, you haven't really charged him to see the turn, as he already invested money in the pot. If you think he is drawing and know you are going to bet the turn, I'd say 3 bet the flop AND lead the turn. Charge him the maximum.

I think so. I'm pretty content to try and take this small pot down ASAP especially when I figure to have the best hand.

I prefer 3-betting the flop here as you are most likely ahead here and you want to charge any draws and extract more bets from someone who won't lay down a Q or will call down with Kx.

You bring up a good point Nick. Let's say I 3 bet the flop and he calls....a diamond rag falls on the turn.

What's the plan now?

i don't know about everyone else, but i like bet/folding on the turn if the flush comes in. you don't want to give him any free cards if he was raising the flop with something like Kx or Qx, and i doubt he's going to be semibluffing twice in one hand after you 3-bet the flop. so if the [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] comes in, i feel ok about betting and folding to a raise.

Does someone with an AF of 1 raise for free cards?
