AA with 4 to the flop

With 4 people seeing the flop, I was wary of a possible set. Should I have raised more pf with this many limpers? Bigger flop bet?

i like the raise preflop and think the bet on the flop is good too as this is a fairly harmless board (read: drawless)

on the turn:bet bet bet ... if villain's smart he'll check behind on the turn with TP (say AJ/KJ/QJ perhaps) and try to get to showdown cheap

i'd bet about $20-25 on the turn. getting the rest in on the river. if raised on the turn i'm still calling as its only about $25 or so back to me, and villain may be pushing with a J (even tho I might be afraid of the set)

i'd def stack off here, if villain hit his set- so be it

Your preflop raise and turn bet looks fine to me. The pot is pretty big at this point for this stakes, so therefore don't let him get a free card even if he only have a few outs. Push to take it down directly, the pot is big enough for a protection bet with AA. Push because any other bet will make you pot committed anyway (if you don't have a really good read at this guy and would fold to a reraise that would save you a few bucks).

If you have a good read that this guy don't play AJ, JJ, QQ or KK without reraising either PF or after the flop to see where he stands, then I would consider checking because if he is tight he probably have a set right now (but it better be a GOOD read).

With the flop texture as it is, villain is calling with one of three things:

(1) a strong hand, such as two pair or a set.
(2) a mediocre hand, such as QJ or KJ
(3) a weak hand, like 88, which he thinks might be good against AK/AQ/KQ

Now your line depends on how agressive he is, and how likely he is to call with the last set of hands. Because him having a very strong hand is unlikely, I like betting out here if he is going to keep calling you down with 88 and less, and there certainly are those on party who will.

If he is less of a caller, and a bit more agressive, he will probably assume that if you checked that his 88 or TJ is good, and bet it out. Flat call, then bet big on the river to look like a bluff.

It's a pretty safe board. Yes you could lose to a set, but you're not going to get outdrawn to a straight or flush. In addition, I really don't see how someone could have two-pair here - I would definitely guess QJ, KJ, or AJ.

Look at their VPIP... if it's under 20%, I'd be scared of a set. If it's over 20%, I'd guess they have top pair and think it's good.

Very interesting responses guys. This is one of the situations that always makes me gulp in NL, when my big flop bet gets called by one of several preflop callers and I have an overpair. Unless of course I'm up against a calling station in which case I just try to keep betting in bite sized chunks.
