This is an assertion that's been around for a while. It doesn't take into account that many people play for entertainment purposes, and periodically put money into the system when they lose their original bankroll. It's the same as if you were going around saying that movie theaters can't last, because the people who go there will run out of money, and won't spend it on that any more.

Yes, there are self-deluded optimists who think they are much better than the average player and can beat the rake. And there are people who actually are and can. But there are plenty of others who just aren't worried about it, and treat it as a hobby that they have to fund periodically, if they want to keep playing.
