I guess your in the bb. I would fold this preflop.

This hand has almost no sd value and your oop.

Q/8 is not a great hand to be defending your blind with.

if you believe you have the best hand do you make more money to raise now or just call and hope he continues betting a worse hand?

i think a call here is better, this is kinda a wa/wb situation ...taking a passive line against an unknown here will prevent you from mucking a winner to continued aggression, but will also get you some value againsta weaker hand....

1) Yes, I was in the bb

2) I'm not sure if Q8o or Q9o should be my cutoff for defending in the bb

3) I wasn't planning on going any further than the flop unless I improved.

That was my question. Looking back at it, the only value in this play that I can see is if Villain will almost always auto-call a checkraise like this, but would never bet the turn without the goods.

edit: Also, I'll be able to fold the turn UI if I'm capped or raised on the turn.

It may not be great, but is it slightly +ev? Yes I know, either way, we're talking pennies, here, but do you have any evidence or expert testimoney claiming it's -ev? What is your cutoff Queen high hand that you defend with?

i think defending here is ok...and i still prefer a more passive line given the board and your hand...
