Default river check?

My read had SB as loose passive

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP calls, 2 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (3 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, MP folds, SB calls.

Turn: (3.50 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls.

River: (7.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 7.50 BB

No way. Value bet and fold to a C/R.

You dont think he'd pay off w/ his pair here? A c/r is an easy fold, but I think this is the type of guy we bet this river against. The T seemed to improve his hand...Q9? JT? KQ I think would just lead the river. Sinc src can fold easily...I like a river bet I think.

should bet...

i really doubt he didn't put more bets in with QJ, and you beat every other two pair hand until this river except those helped by the ace. and really those hands don't make much sense.

so by checking you're saying you think he has KQ/KJ/KT a majority of the time, and i don't think that's the case. his range from the SB should include all other possible two pair hands here, like Q6, J6, T6, JT, etc. also his play fits well with "denying the free card" on the flop and turn, perhaps with a single pair of queens.

also i'd expect him to simply donk the river if he made a straight. so bet, and fold to a check raise.

Ofcourse, I checked because I knew I'd have trouble folding to a raise. That's no excuse, just something I have to work on.

No, you beat (IMO much ) more than half of the hands that he will call your bet with. You must bet.
