Default Heads up turn fold

Villain was unknown at the time.

PREFLOP
UTG raises, all folded to Hero in the SB who 3-bets with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], BB folds, UTG caps.

FLOP 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero calls.

TURN K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero folds.

I was going to call down unless an A or a K hit, maybe donking the river.

What would you guys have done differently?

Thanks,
Cartman

I would not fold the turn--I'd call down.

I would check-raise the flop. I think you're giving a little too much credit to his hand range.

I definitely call this down unless another broadway comes on the river.
He can easily do this with AQs and the like. And there is always a small chance he is way overplaying his hand.

FWIW, iŽd raise the flop and call down against a 3bet unless an A hits.

I've been trying to get to showdwon more--posts like that do not help me in this pursuit! hehe, anyway, I light this flop up a little bit. I am definitely not folding here (esp in light of my sd numbers I mentioned). I think poldi is right in that after an A hits a fold might be in order.

Do others agree that an A means fold?

Hey cartman,

I try to cap the turn to represent the 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]!!

Joking. I think if another broadway comes it may be a way to fold it. By check raising the flop, the information you might get could allow you to fold the turn. Think about it like this, by check raising the flop into the preflop capper, he may 3 bet the flop and show more accurately how strong his hand is, for instance, AA or slick or higher pockets than 99. that might allow you to get away from the hand on turn if you wind up UI. However, if he decides to just call your check raise, planning to auto raise the turn, then that might be the best time to fold. This is just some brainstorming.
