Goddamn you. I wanted to see that Beck concert here in Chicago but it was all sold out by the time I found out about it. I just got into Beck like a month ago at the suggestion of a 2+2er. Maybe it was you. His music is some of the best I've heard, but there is so much trash to filter through.

Wasn't me but I would highly recommend him. He played guitar, banjo, harmonica, drums, accordian, kitchen utensils (drum jam) and the turntable at various stages of the show. Maybe 1 or 2 songs the crowd really wasn't into...not too bad for a 2+ hour show.

I saw Mars Volta. They played nonstop for 4 hours combining every song.

saw beck on 06/19/04 (just looked the date up on his website) for the first time at liberty lunch in austin. place held around 500 people. he had just released his first album at that point.

i remember getting there before the show started and it was a bit crowded in front but i walked almost right up to the stage. just as beck started to play i realized why.

i was standing right where the mosh pits formed at shows. this was in the hey day of mosh pits. i couldnt freaking believe it. moshing at beck?!?! "loser" is the hardest thing on mellow gold. the rest is hippie stoner music. damn sheep.

I'm not exactly a Motley Crue fan, but I got free tickets to the Cincinnati concert so I went. This thing was all kinds of awesome. The whole band was way on their game, I was really impressed both with Tommy Lee's drumming and The lead guitarist's playing. They had half-naked chicks spinning on ribbons, explosions, it was awesome, it was rock and roll.

I didn't enjoy that show very much. I think the 3 terrible opening bands had completely sapped me by the time BTS arrived.

Saw New Pornographers at Southgate House on Friday. Now that was a concert.

Saw Beck last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Great music venue...great concert. His band is really talented, and he had a DJ from Japan that spun DVDs on a big screen along with the beat.

Also saw Coldplay recently, pretty good, but nothing compared to last night.

Interested to hear others recent concert experiences...

Saw the White Stripes play at the Greek Theatre. Awesome show. They are really tight onstage. Great slide playing. Meg White is in her own little world onstage, fun to watch.

They have their equipment set up so Meg is at one edge of the stage facing sideways and Jack's mic set up right in front. It helps them to stay in sync because they go off course quite a bit and use visual cues to change the rhythm.

He made fun of the LA crowd by doing the encore after the first set which was about 5 songs long. Guess we're not as loud as other places. Lots of people there trying too hard to look cool. Go away 80's, I hate your music and huge ugly sunglasses. The older crowd was out in full force, which was a surprise.

Beck came on stage and played one of his songs, and then played bass on The Denial Twist.

Went to the Long Beach Blues Festival (at my school), it was mostly R&B. Another guy (Guitar Johnny, or something) thought the blues = long uninteresting guitar solos. Lots of noodling, no quality phrasing. Bobby Blue Bland played, he does this funny thing with his voice/throat, kinda cool. I forgot if I liked his music, too long ago.

Black Crowes closed the show. Pretty good overall, they could get rid of a guitarist or something else. A little muddy at times.

Got baked in the hot sun.
