Default Re: Calling down with Ace high

The funny thing is that I view myself as weak in regards to actually playing the way I'm describing here. I really don't *know* if it's right, but in the heat of the moment when I'm playing my A game and everything is clicking I *feel* it's right. This is why I run into problems (In situations like this) when I'm getting beat up, or am not playing my best - I try to look for an excuse to get that pot... or show that aggression... In vain and with negative expectation I'm sure.

I'm just sitting here trying to figure out if there is an answer based in logic for it all. In reality I should be thinking about AJo utg, and value bets in a general sense, but I guess we play the hands we're dealt.

I'd rather show him that we're going to take a lot of his money everytime we hit a big hand and then if he adjusts we can start playing back at him with a wider range of hands.

This is great stuff ^

I (Lash) should probably focus on not out thinking myself, and look for more glaring holes in my game that are probably costing me more money than I ever dreamed. What about Cartman though? He said it’s a possible leak (I’m still on scenario 1). I think that this might help him make adjustments.

Duly noted. I've been getting wrecked in spots like this lately by 60/40/2-ish maniacs.

Folding a big Ace against these guys is not an option in my opinion. It is just a matter of whether to check and call down or to bet "knowing" you will get raised and then calling down. It is the non-maniac type that are more of a concern to me.

Are you taking A7 to showdown against these guys, or do you tend to use the same guidelines as against this overplaying TAG?

I am usually going to the showdown with any Ace against a maniac.
