Default Imperial Palace Biloxi Poker Room

I am going to the gulf coast with the family for the holidays. I read that the Imperial Palace is reopening this week, with a new poker room. Their website is silent as to whether they will offer tournaments or what levels of games they will be offering.

Does anyone here know what their plan is?

Thanks

Grip

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the IP in Biloxi was not going to reopen now or something. I think it was in GamingToday.

If they do, I can't imagine who would be there. Seems like all the Coast players are now in Philadelphia at the Silver Star. I will miss many of them, I have been unimpressed.

Not me....but I suck at NL ring and that seems to be the only game they spread anymore above 3-6.

My last few visits to Philadelphia the 10-20 limit was dead and the 10/20/30 Omaha was running maybe 1 out of 4 or 5 trips. And when it was running all the gamblers where setting in the 5000 max buy in NL game.

I miss those 6 and 7 way capped before the flop pots.

Maybe I just need to learn NL.....

Best of Luck

I played the last hand dealt at the Palace the night they shut down for Katrina. It was a pretty room. I don't see why it wouldn't open with the rest of the place unless they don't have the employees to staff it. But I also wonder what the hell it's going to be like on the Gulf Coast with nothing but casinos functioning.

I read that the Grand in Gulfport is not going to reopen, but the Grand in Biloxi will.

I just heard from a friend who owns (well, owned) a house in Waveland. He said that that there is not a single wall standing--just slabs and driveways. I wouldn't expect much infrastructure on the Mississippi Coast for quite a while. In spite of the impression that some news sources have been giving--that Mississippi under the leadership of Haley Barbour is coming along just fine, while New Orleans where the evil Democrats live is still a disaster, Mississippi is NOT coming along just fine. It is still badly damaged, and things are moving slowly there too.

Went to the IP (that's what they want to go by now instead Imperial Palace) last night. I had to park about 4 blocks away because it was so packed. The poker room is on the third floor, which unfortunately for me is all non-smoking. They only had 7 tables going because something was wrong with some of the cameras, should be fixed now. They could have had 40 tables going and that may not have been enough there were so many people.

The palace would probably have their poker room open when they open on Dec 30 if the barge wasn’t sitting sideways in the bay. The casino will be on the first and second floors of the hotel I believe.

LittleOldLady, politics goes somewhere else. While there are many people who have lots of problems going on right now such as me not having a permanent place to live There are many small and large businesses (ex. three casinos within the next 7 days) that ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS and need business so please don’t discourage anyone from coming down.

Excuse me, the truth is the truth. I lost every single thing I owned including an 11-room house in an upscale New Orleans Lakefront neighborhood, and so did most of my friends. Several lost two houses--one lost FIVE. People need to know that things are not good in Louisiana and Mississippi. The information in the media is not telling the whole story. It is true that businesses are starting to reopen and need clientele. Nonetheless, the truth is that the infrastructure is in tatters, that police protection and medical care are iffy, not all the roads and streets are back in shape. Large swaths of New Orleans do not have electrical service. There are no landline telephones operating in New Orleans, etc.

I myself am hoping to go back during carnival, and certainly we all hope that people will come back to Louisiana and Mississippi and patronize those tourist-oriented businesses that have reopened and will reopen. But the truth is that these businesses are islands in a sea of devastation, and the entire area is still desperately in need of help. One way to help is to come on down and play in the casinos and go to Mardi Gras, but do not expect everything to be all repaired and pristine. It isn't.

This is likely what will happen, with the Grand Biloxi being rebranded as either a Caesars or Horseshoe.
