Default raise \"too\"

This discussion came up last night at a home game, and I was hoping someone would know a little bit about the matter.

We were playing a .50/1 NL cash game. Its a friendly game, but we all try to play well and be respectful of what the rules should be. At one point I was in a conversation and was talking about something, I look down and see AA, and mid sentence: "so that's that....and I raise, too."

My friend was saying that I should be locked into raising $2. I'm unclear as to how this would work in a casino, if it was a limit game would it be different, and so on. If anyone has any thoughts on this, I can definitely see how its announcing a raise of $2, just wasn't sure if it'd be different in limit or what...

thanks

I think that is a raise of $2 or to $2.

In this situation I think going on intention is best. From now on however, use 'as well.'

Meh. Couldn't you also have been saying "I raise TO..." and not yet decided on the amount?

Right, that's why I'm curious if there's a standard rule regarding this, which is the only situation i can think of where a number is also a normal word...

It would be a judgement call by the dealer/floor if it went that far.

On most tables your intent is clear and the amount is not. Not too mention that there is only one limit where this is even a concern, 1/2 NL anything higher and you could not raise $2 as it would not be enough.
