Commerce vs Bicycle vs Hollywood Park

I'm sure I've read posts comparing the LA-area B&Ms before, but can't find it when I search, so for the 1,000th time:

What are the differences between these casinos?

I've played at the Hustler and Commerce Casinos, one time each. I play low limit (2/4) so I didn't like Hustler, which offered 4/8 and said a 3/6 would be starting up soon.

I liked Commerce. At 2/4 the players were horrible. Loose-passive sprinkled with a couple loose-aggressive. Yesterday I sat nodding as the guy next to me complained that he wasn't winning because he only played good cards, then turned over hands like A3 UTG and cold-called with 54o UTG+1. In six hours there I made 70BB. What I didn't like about Commerce was their rake. $2.50 every hand at 2/4, plus $.50 for the jackpot seems kind of steep.

Is Bicycle club noticeably different in player quality? What about their rake structure?

The quality of players at the Bike in the lower limit games is probably similar to Commerce, but one thing for sure, the food at the Bike is the nuts -- outstanding. And if you join their Rewards program, which means showing a drivers license and about 5 mintues of your time, you can pretty much eat for free. It's like three hours of play for a free meal, and only one hour of play per meal if you're playing 10/20 or higher.

My experience with the three casinos with their low-limit players (2-4, 3-6) is that they are all pretty similar, especially here in Los Angeles. You seem to face more gamblers than poker players. The quality of your opponents won't vary much.

As far as the rake, it should be the same for all three. The Bike, however, does not take the full rake if there is no flop.

The real difference lies in all other aspects than the players and the rake. The staff seems to be much more professional than the other two, and their no abuse policy is much more strictly enforced. The chairs and tables are MUCH more comfortable. Even their chips are cleaner. The only edge that I feel Commerce has is that because of their size, they will almost always spread more games than any other casino, therefore, you will get a seat more often and see more action.

PS I work at the Bike as sort of a Lead Host/Prop and can be found playing the green chip games (6/12 and 8/16) when on duty. Come by and say hi if you have time. The floorman who covers the green chip games will know where I am if I'm on the floor.

why does everyone keep suggesting this, especially in LA the poker capital of the world. playing online is boring. i do it, mainly to make money while i watch tv, but sometimes i'm so bored with it i can't even do that. but when i go play live poker 12 hours seem like 2. this is just me, but i'm sure a lot of other people feel the same way.

He'll be the one with the blown dry hair, the fancy suit and tie, a smile on his face, two separate conversations going with each of his neighbors, and the big pile of chips. He's a good reason for goiing to the Bike instead of Commerce (as long as you don't get involved in any pots with him).

Given the presumption being people play for economic reasons (and not other considerations), the online rakes, no tipping, minimal time and costs getting to the game, multi-tabling and more hands per hour equal greater profitability at the low limits.

I live to play live but won't forsake a much larger expectation online to play live in CO, but will routinely drive 6+ hours each way in a weekend to play 10-20 and up. Online drives me nuts but helps pay the bills.
