I wear them at No Limit and the 10/20 at woods sometimes but mostly because I look really young and don't want to look straight in the eyes of a security guard and get booted out.

Sunglasses are crucial at all limits of poker! It's part of the uniform! Is a basketball star going onto the court with penny loafers? No. Will a football star play without a helmet? No.

This is such an original topic! Sunglasses and poker? Who'd a thunk?

I think your poll was a little too narrow. im one of those folks that wears a baseball cap quite often (poker or not). when playing low stakes limit i prefer not to have glasses as they seem to interfere with the lets have a good time and gamble image i wish to project. when playing nl/pl, tournament or otherwise i think it is a signifigant advantage to the average to decent players like me. the key is not to grab your favorite pair as they are probably way to dark, if you screw up one time by misreading your hand it can cost a bunch also leering to check suits is no goot. a light tint with mirror or reflective lenses works well. for economy panama jack makes my favorite pair that can be had for less than ten bucks, i lose or break a pair about once a month so i dont go oakley etc. ive of course played hat, hat glasses and bare and i like just hat the most but if its big bet i like to have the glasses around especially if i cant have the catbird seat. i think eventually there may be a ban on them and ill live with it. when someone catches you looking a hair too long at your chips their chips the board etc you may see the value of shading those eyes. barryg1 i think does a great job of dropping his lids i dunno if its intentional or not. try them just be sure they are not too dark, when trying them on discerning the red is key. mho,
your vilage idiot

I actually wear sunglasses most of the time I'm playing whether I am playing 4/8, 6/12, 9/18, or higher. The main reason truly is the god-awful flourescent light in casinos. Oh it helps when I go to Commerce or Bay 101 not to get busted by the security...

I actually find that most be who berate me for wearing them are really piss poor players who like to gambool. My prejudice is probably just as screwed up as the OPs...

I just got off from my shift dealing 2/5 nd 5/5. LOL - sunglass wearers typically appear to be <30, have no clue, and are gone within an hour, losing the $100 that took them soooo long to make when flipping burgers.

Most toke ok though.

It seems that a lot of people use that "god awful light in the casino" excuse. I wear contacts and my eyes are pretty sensitive to bright light. But I have never found the need to wear sunglasses to shield my eyes from the glare of the lights in the casinos. So I find it hard to believe that so many people have issues with the lights.

Personally, I think that if you want to wear sunglasses while playing poker, go for it. Whether it's for looks, lights, or to hide those shifty eyes, do what pleases you. But I still chuckle (quietly, of course) when I see sunglasses in a low limit game.

I lost my sunglasses on Sunday at the Trop. If you find them, let me know.
