i totally agree with you. in pokerstars, i completely believe they give me high pocket pairs on purpose so that i bet alot (thus increasing the rake and their profits) and somebody always outdraws me, calling with hands like 75 offsuit all the way to the showdown... it got so ridiculous that i switched to pokerroom... which has done well for me

What a funny coincidence that Pokerstars is known to have tougher games (and you werent able to beat the tougher games). Oh but thats just a coincidence, the real reason is that pokerstars was cheating you!

I had a stupid friend who thought bought this "book" from that site. It's horrible. His great cheating methods are:

1. Setting up multiple accounts on different IP's and playing at the same table.

2. Crappy psychology advice, that he claims can force people to fold strong hands.

3. Using poker bots.

And my personal favorite

4. Using TightVNC to see other peoples desktops. Which he says is very easy. He then goes on to explain that you will need to get the person to be running the 'TightVNC' server, then get their IP address and finally get their password. Its that simple.

Needless to say, my friend was unimpressed and tried to get his 60 bucks back to no avail.

I heard from my buddy that plays at Party Poker, that the random number generator is actually using live animals as a variable in the algorithm. The initial Beta 1 version was using the electrical impulses of earth worms, but that proved to be to slow. Then they went on to RC1 and 2 which used the wagging of Dachshunds tails. The Dachshunds were stabilized, similar to that of a calf developed for Veal, then constantly fed Beggin’ Strips. One of the interns was German and found this to be too cruel and refused to clean the stabilizers. Currently in the public release version 3.043, code named “hamsters in wheels”, Party Poker is finally happy with the RNG. They host a 3,000 square foot room, with 36 sets of 52 hamsters. The computers can send a signal to one set of 52 hamsters to detect what degree the wheel is at and in turn convert this into the cards you are dealt.
Regarding the other posts about getting the same hand over and over… Well I hear that this is when they are changing a couple of the hamsters out. Poor little guys….

PP spent over $100M in advertising alone last year, it's going public very soon.

In a short 3-5 years they have become the largest gambling site in the world, and the largest gambling firm in the UK.

Their assets are estimated into the billion range, and they plan on taking over internet gambling, and actually start getting into real-life gambling (casinos, etc).

Read the most recent Economist.

They have everything to lose by using some descreet formula to generate cards which can be guessed by some 30/60 player.

It's much, much more likely that if indeed something is rigged, its probably your computer being full of spyware/etc.

I made a similar post on RPG. I closed my UB account after seeing some imposible hands. Even if the shuffle was not rigged as I supected, my supicion was enough to not be able to play at my best. So they lost my rakes.

I've heard the argument that sites have nothing to gain, but they so. The higher the pot, the bigger the rake. Giving people Face cards a high percentage of the time ensures a healthy rake. Giving 3 player AA, KK, QQ, and or JJ in the same game ensures a healthy rake. (I saw this 5X in a row at the same table on UB, and 3X in a row on the same table at PokerStars). People tell me that it is not statistically signifigant. That may be be, but it doesn't seem right.

This is the era of Enron, Worldcom, Tyco, etc. Why would we naively beleive that poker sites, beung run offshore, questionably regulated by some Indian Casino, or who knows what, are above dishonesty in their business practices?

I'm in no way a poker pro, believe me. But I think it's sad that rather than resort to the high road of playing poker well, people resort to these kinds of bullsh** tactics.

RE: weighted high cards in the deal. I guess it's possible and does make business sense, but as others have said, if the playing field is level among the players, it's not the biggest deal, although I in no way condone it. However, one thing I've learned is that poker is great for playing mind tricks on you. If any of you REALLY WANT TO MAKE A CASE, plug all your hands into a database and see what the statistics show. If you gather a large enough pool, the weights, if they exist, will be clear.

Anecdotal testimony on STATISTICS useless and while I can understand the possible reasons behind bad card generators, I will not believe anything until someone brings evidence to the board.
