Default Adjusting Tournament Play

I went to vegas last weekend and played in a few tourneys. I quickly figured out that many of them are a rip off - because of how many chips you get and how quickly the blinds move. Is there are formulas or basic rules to follow in figuring out how loose/tight you should play - based on the Blinds/Quantity of chips rec'd/how quickly the blinds move?

Yea, read Harrington on Hold'em... or for a rough rule.. once you have 10BB's or less, don't raise less than all-in preflop, and probably don't limp.
