push. there is almost no conceivable way that button comes along with SB already all-in.

I hope you're kidding. Is button folding AT-AK, 88+? I doubt it, and I'm fairly certain there are many more hands that he will call with.

it was a quick response, but i really wasn't kidding, and still think i might make that play.

think if you're button: you raise to 2x BB, SB calls all-in, and then BB pushes (who covers you). i'd need to be real sure i was going to win because otherwise it looks like i'm coming in second place based upon BB's big-stack push.

i'd be interested in what range of hands you'd have to put button on to not make that push.

This guy's range is much larger than AT-AK, 88+ for a button minraise. I think a lot of players would fold TT and AQ here as well, especially at the $215s.

I don't see the value of raising the button out.

If you push it and the button folds - the shortie STILL triples up if he wins. If the shortie is gonna triple up if he wins - why not have the other guy in for the ride. Now if the shortie had another 500 behind the raise - I might push...but here? call.

AQ or TT? Thats not even close...actually when the button min raises like this, they should be planning to call with a wide range of hands if the BB pushes. I mean everyone understands the old push to isolate trick, I don't know if my opponent did, but I wouldnt be folding something like A6s if for some unknown reason I came in with a minraise.

ITM Button will certainly call a lot more than on the bubble. If you push, button will still be likely to come in second if he calls as he probably has a decent hand and SB is a random hand. Button did raise into you, not just shorty, and could have a strong hand.

I'd call. Button will ALMOST never bet without a strong hand after the flop, making play very easy for you.

That's a good point. And remember, as nice as it'd be if you did push and win the hand, button eliminating the SB here is a much better result for you than if you push and SB happens to win the pot. Call and see the flop.
