Going to Thailand for 6 weeks

Soooo,

I got a buddy travelling the world and we have decided to meet up for some Thai food. I have never been to Asia period. I leave the end of Jan. and come back in March.

Has anyone been to Thailand post-Tsunami?

Any recommendations would be sweet as I have nothing set once I arrive other than getting out of Bangkok.

A coworker is also going there for a couple weeks with his wife...and a friend jsut got back.....evidently everyone loves it, so have a great time.

The funny thing is that everyone that has been to Thailand mentions the whores, this includes the chicks I've talked to about Thailand.

However, other than the sex slaves, I have interest in prime locations and hot food spots.

I met a girl at the airport when I was waiting for a plane that I had misbooked and thus had to kill a lot of time. I met her on the shuttle between terminals. She had just got back from Thailand and didn't mention the whores at all.

She did go on about the great massages though. She ended up staying 2 weeks longer than she intended because she was having such a great time.
