Tournament rules - showing hand preflop

Suppose you were in a satellite, close to the money, with AA in the pocket and all you want to do is pick up the blinds - you don't want a 20% risk of going bust. Is it against the rules to actually show your hand preflop and then move all in?

seems like you should take your 20% chance of busting here. if its a satellite you should be only plying for first, so as a short or medium stack this is the hand you've been waiting for. and as a big stack, this is a hand you've been waiting for. as a poker player, this is the hand you've been waiting for. if youre afraid to play AA, you probbaly shouldnt have entred the satellite.

Showing your hand before other players have acted is a DEAD hand in tournaments. Some will give you a penalty, as well...

You're assuming that only first place pays the seat, but the original post pretty clearly suggests otherwise.

I'm not sure about the rule, but I think it's a dead hand.

Usually when this occurs at least half the table will claim this is a dead hand

this is in effect in almost all casinos. talking about your hand is also unethical and will likely incur a penalty as well.
