Comps

Can you guy's give me some examples of comps you got while playing blackjack. Do you ask the dealer or the floorman for the comp?

Do you ask before you start playing or afterwards about what comps they have etc.

I'll be staying at the MGM this weekend and would like to try to benefit from comps as much as possible.
