I also always laughed my ass off at the weekend update character that Ferrell did, don't remember his name but he was a guy "who couldn't modarate the volume of his voice."

Hilarious.

[/ QUOTE ]
He suffers from voice immodulation.

I nominate Martin Short as Nathan Thurm.

That skit is insanely good, way way better than anything SNL could produce these days.
The skit from last year where Amy Poehler played the US Dollar was quite amazing, I'd say it was the best thing they've done recently.

I know they only did it once, but Martin Short's portrayel of a synchronized swimmer is on a short list of the funniest things of all time.

I can't believe somebody said Goatboy.

Anything Walken has done has been gold.

Connery was just glassic, and as my friend pointed out yesterday- Ferrell's Lipton makes the real Lipton tolerable.

What about Farley as Newt Grengich. With his mother and Connie Chung. That was a funny skit.

In order to keep this list manageable, perhaps impersonations of actual people should be left off? Original characters only. Just a thought. Though I'd hate to take Lipton or Connery off the list.

I'd also prefer to keep impersonations on. Although we could easily create two polls, one for original characters, one for impersonations.

All the 70's ones I wanted to add have already been mentioned.

So, how bout Will Forte's "Tim Calhoun"? Only a few appearances, but in my opinion pretty much the only classic thing about the most recent seasons.
