problem playing video files on my computer
I'm pretty computer illiterate and I am hoping someone here can tell me how to fix this problem.
The problem is, whenever I try to play a video file that is .avi format on my computer (using Windows media player, divx, or realplayer) the file plays but it seems that the image is zoomed in about 500%. The video plays normally except for the fact that I cant see the whole picture. I have tried downloading programs that convert the avi files into another format but that hasnt worked. I also just tried downloading the newest version of WMP to no avail. I am using windows xp. Thanks in advance for your help. -Steve |

Re: problem playing video files on my computer
Download VLC media player. It comes with pretty much every codec there is, and has been able to play anything I've ever downloaded.

I fixed it. I went to display properties > advanced > changed 'DPI' to large size. Thanks for your suggestions. Steve |

Re: problem playing video files on my computer
Use this program to tell what codec the file is using:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ You may want to uninstall / reinstall the codec that it's using. I find this codec pack one of the best IMO: http://packs.matroska.org/ |

Re: problem playing video files on my computer
don't install unnecessary codecs, I've heard people having problems doing that. Each time you have a video that won't play, figure out what codec you need and get that one in particular.
