Default absurd misdeal situation

Home cash game, 25/50 cent blinds, 20 max. No big deal, just friends. I raise to $2 mp with AsKh. Late caller and it folds around. The flop comes Jd, 2d, and at that point the dealer tries to flip the third card (don't even say it - I always tell them to flip all three at once) and the entire deck falls out of his hand and fans into the muck. It was impossible to tell exactly which cards were mucked and which were from the deck, so reshuffling was not much of an option. We split the pot - he had A10. Was this the only option?

You could have reshuffled the deck or chopped or traded cards....the beauty of a home game is you can make up the house rules. I'm sure they would fire a spastic dealer in a casino.

I think you came up with the best solution. AT might not be happy if he was AdTd....

the only solution in a casino is a misdeal, everybody gets their money back and the hand starts again.

home game, splitting the pot is a better option i think

I'd just reshuffle the damn deck, minus the burn and two flop cards (if retrievable), and move on. No burn before the third flop card.

Neither of you is privy to what cards were folded.

Split the pot and tell the dealer to lay off the coffee.

This happened to me in a casino. MP raises to 10 (no limpers, 1-2 100 max turning stone). Dealer flips 1/4 of the deck face up. I offer to misdeal, telling villain I havent even seen my cards, I could possibly have AA. Villain's buddy pipes in saying he raised, why would he want a misdeal, I tell buddy I wasnt talking to him, and tell him to shut his mouth. I ask villain again, he says no way. I look down at j10s, I fold my sb, bb folds, villain flips AA.

You said 25% of the cards were flipped over or boxed? I thought after exposing a certain number of cards, the misdeal was automatic and there was no need to ask the other players in the hand?
