1600x1200 resolution should be important to you too (you didn't mention what the max res was). I don't know much about laptop pricing, so maybe that's not possible in a $1000 laptop. [/ QUOTE ] The max resolution is 1280x800. I have a 2001fp. Currently, I 4-table on that, and then use the laptop screen for PT, 2+2, or a 2 or 3 more tables. It does me fine. 1600x1200 would be nice, but those pretty much start around $1600, and I'm just not going to get enough value out of it to justify it. |

I have an HP and although it has been pretty good to me recently, I would never buy an HP laptop (or desktop, but thats because I would build my own desktop)

Don't ignore the HD speed, a 7200 rmp vs a 5400 in a laptop will make a noticeable difference because Poker Tracker is a HD resource hog especially if you have it set up to load HH every minute [/ QUOTE ] Second this. I think you're significantly under-valuing disk speed and over-valuing CPU speed. My Inspiron 9200 has a 1.6GHz cpu, 512MB RAM, and a 7200rpm hard drive and has no trouble with 4 tables + PT + PV + firefox + gaim. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I do think that I will need to move to 7200 in the near future, but I did not want to disqualify this machine for that reason. Upgrading to a 7200rpm drive is not an option for this series, but if I need to I can probably swap in a 60GB 7200rpm for about $150. Thanks for the info, I'm definitely going to look more into slower processer/faster HD. |
