Getting myself in deep [censored], 6 max 10 20
10/20nl 6 max,5 handed.
My first round, villain is unknown other then that he isin't a regular. 2k stacks. I open for $80 with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villains calls on button and SB calls, others fold. Flop is T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB checks, I bet $140, button calls, sb folds. Turn is 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check(?!) villain bets $120 and I call. River Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] check, villain bets $560, hero ??? This whole play feels very wrong and weak, need some advices for avoiding this kind of stupid decission on river OOP. The turn play is also pretty questionable, this time villain bet so little that I suppose it's a must call, but what if he bets $300 or whatever. |

Call and hope he doesnt have AK or K9. It looks like your ahead. Villian could easily have overplayed two pair and or a set.

You didn't bet enough on the flop to give yourself a chance. But then again, I think a check would be better yet.

Looks like villain is not worried about you drawing here, hence the small bet on the turn...I wouldn't be surprised to see villain have a made straight with a redraw to a flush here. I think I call and expect to chop it up or make a check-raise and try to push him off the chopped pot.

I don't know if I like betting the flop. You will get action from a lot of hands and if you make a straight it isn't disguised very well. As played, the river is a very easy call where you should expect to chop a large majority of the time, and the times you see K9, AK will more than be balanced by the times you see some other crap.

If you believe that you are going to chop the pot and that's your read, why not try and take down a nice pot? You have to trust your read, but thats the whole of idea of this game.
