Default Another Middle Pair

This hand is a follow up to another hand that I posted here. It may help to look at that one first, as this one is eerily similar.

Same villain : 21/20/1.54. This hand occurred about 15 hands after the first one.

Party 15/30 - Full Table

Three folds, and I raise with 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Villain raises on the button, blinds fold and again, I call.

Flop is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
I check-raise, he re-raises, and I call.

Turn is T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
I bet, he calls.

River is 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
I bet, he calls.

How did I do?

Why did you bet into him on the turn? I agree with you that it may be worth it to take your hand to the river against someone with his stats on that board, but are you really worried that he's going to check behind with overcards? I would go into check-call mode and let him hang himself.

I really can't explain the turn bet...to be honest, sometimes I go through hand histories, and I wonder why I did something myself.

You're right - I want to see the river here, and calling down is the cheapest way there. But occassionally, I will bet out on the turn, even when I know I just want to get to the river cheaply. Capping the flop on a flush draw is a pretty popular move in the 15/30 game, even when it's heads up, so I don't mind making them pay for it on the turn.

Although this is a spot where giving a free card isn't a killer, I'll occasionally put some pressure on him after that type of flop action. I honestly don't know if it is a good play or not, but it's surprising how often I will take the lead and still see the river for the same price. And along the way, I might fold a few better hands.

I prefer to CR the turn than the flop.

I don't like check raising the flop here because a LOT of players with overs will 3 bet your CR so what have you learned. Also many players will just call your check/raise and raise your inevitable turn lead with an overpair.

I play it like this. Check/call flop, and lead a safe turn card. Fold to a turn raise.

The way you played it, I would definitely check/call the river.

I also prefer a turn CR rather than a flop CR for reasons stated above.
