Default Defrag Help

When I try to defragment my computer it restarts instead. Anybody know what's going on here?

Never heard of that problem.

You could try going to cnet.com and look under downloads to see if there's a third party freeware/shareware defragging program. That might be a work around.

If you mean the defrag program keeps restarting as opposed to the computer, then that is caused by a program that keeps accessing the hard drive like the screen saver, firewall or autoupdates. So instruct the firewall to block all internet traffic and disable the screen saver and any other background programs like anti-spy software until the defrag is done.

Try running an error check (and repair, if needed) before you defrag. Possibly you have som file system errors that are causing the defrag to crash.
