Rested teams early in the season.
I'm sure in most sports a team that has played only two games has a nice fresh start versus a team that has played three.
In football, at the start of a season however, I suspect that the opposite is true. What is the accepted period of time for teams to get their 'O' working properly? I have a feeling that those who have only played two games may underperform slightly when playing those who have played three. Just a thought/question up there for discussion. Lori |

Re: Rested teams early in the season.
No hard data for you Lori as my last few seasons records seem to have mysteriously disappeared when I moved earlier this year(somehow women just don't see the value in stuff like that).
From recollection there was no clear cut edge either way for teams coming off the bye week. Some did well, some did not. FWIW The New York Daily News has a decent capsulized analysis of each game in their Friday edition, which in the past has frequently included how a team has fared coming off the bye. They have a new writer for it this year though, so he may not include this. http://www.nydailynews.com/ |
