Re: The Most Amazing Thing I Have Ever Seen
The most amazing poker thing i ever saw was, at a B&M, the bad beat jackpot for holdem (Aces full of tens or better beat by quads or better, using both hole cards) hit on BACK-TO-BACK HANDS.
Not back to back dealers or twice in the same five minutes. The jackpot was hit, the floorman came over and counted down the deck, took people's identification, walked away. The dealer shuffled up and BAM, another jackpot. As an aside, I was watching PBS and they said the odds of hitting the Lotto (not sure which state) were the same as being dealt a pat royal in 5 card draw TEN TIMES IN A ROW. |

Rough odds
Back to back royals is really no big deal, odds-wise.
In 5 card stud you get a RF every ~800,000 hands. There;s no way to precisely calculate the odds in holdem since many starters that would make a RF get mucked but it's a good guess to figure them at ~30,000:1 per person divided by 10 people at the table gives you ~3,000:1 odds for the table to hit one on any given deal. So every time you see someone hit a RF it's only 3,000 to 1 that the next hand is also a RF. If you take the whole world of online poker I'd imagine this happens at least once every few days. Now when you compare these odd to the odds of the Democrats every regaining all three branches of the federal government you'll likely see a couple RFs first. |

Re: The Most Amazing Thing I Have Ever Seen
[ QUOTE ]
As an aside, I was watching PBS and they said the odds of hitting the Lotto (not sure which state) were the same as being dealt a pat royal in 5 card draw TEN TIMES IN A ROW. [/ QUOTE ] Then they were quoting someone who didn't know what they were talking about. No state lottery is allowed to run a game with odds that long. A royal flush hits in five cards with probability 1.54x10^(-6) (That's one in 649739.) The probably for ten times in a row is 7.46x10^(-59), or one in 13,500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 ,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. (Approximately.) So if they run such a lottery one BILLION times a day, and each run gets one BILLION entries, you would not expect it to hit before the sun burns up. Even the worst lotteries have much better odds than that. . . cansider a lottery with 60 numbers to draw from, where seven numbers are drawn and you must match all seven. I don't think there is a lottery that awful, but your odds are 1 in 386,206,920. |

it looks like 150 bundles of 5 packets of 100 bills of $100: [/ QUOTE ] I think there is more than 150 bundles there. My guess would be 225 bundles. |

In retrospect, it probably was TEN TIMES but not "in a row." |

wow! back to back royals are really amazing!
the most bizarre thing I ever saw was in 7 card stud when the very same player being rolled up with kings back to back (he won both hands ). |
