Default Looking for 3/6 low limit near Chicago

I am new (very new) to serious poker and am looking to play in a B&M place near Chicago (live in nw burbs). Where are the places to go nearby? I know the Aurora boat has 5/10 and that Trump in Indiana just opened a room (probably 2 hrs to get there from where I live), and I've seen that Ho-Chunk in the dells has a room. Any others? Any recommendations for a first-timer, specifically, how much cash should I bring? 50x BB??

Thanks for any and all help/advice!

Hey xynxz,

Well, although I used to live out in Indiana, I don't know of any of the poker rooms and such out there (since I didn't pick up the game until AFTER I moved away). So unfortunately i can't help you there.

I can, however, offer you some advice on your first trip to a B&M, from my personal experience. I normally use about 15-20 BB's for a buy-in in my game, which would be around $100 for a 3/6. Of course, if you intend to have a backup buy-in, 50 BB's sounds just about right. More importantly, be comfortable with the experience, have fun, and play well! It may be a bit nerve-wracking at the beginning if you're mostly used to online and home games, but everybody that works at the casino is there to help you, and if you relax, you'll be that much better off. Welcome to the forum!

Trump usually has several 3/6 games going...Harrah's only has a 5-10 as its smallest game.

People have nailed it so far -- Harrah's East Chicago and Hollywood in Joliet both have 5-10 as the smallest game. Trump has 3-6.

Rockford charitable games has events a few times a week (weekends in Rockford, weekdays all over) with $1-3 and $2-5 spread limit HE, along with $3-6 mixed game (holdem/omaha) and $5-10 on up too. Check www.rockfordcharitablegames.com for their schedule, maybe they'll be set up by you sometime.

For the NW burbs, games are spread sometimes in Addison and Des Plaines. At the end of February, they will be in Algonquin for one day. The rest of the time it is usually in Rockford.

Default WSOP satellites Harrah\'s Chjcago

hey everyone
Has anyone heard any information on the WSOP satellites at Harrah's in EC. I went to the website and found the buy-in to be 350+150 for main event and 35+30 for satellites. Can anybody confirm this is correct because those entry fees seem absurd especially for the satellite unless there is some sort of catch

I live in SE WI. and would be very interested in this information as well. Also, I'll be in Vegas the weekend of the 26th in March and I'm looking for some NL HE tourney action out there for buy-ins at or under $100.
