Default Little Contest/Memory Game

How many years back can you recall a national/worldwide event or something that happened to someone on a national/worldwide level.

For example, your post would look like this:

2005 - .....
2004 - .....
2003 - .....

and so on. If you couldn't think of anything for 2002, then you have to stop. I don't think I could make it very far, how far can you make it? And no cheating... anyone could just look up stuff that happened but there's no fun in that. And try not to peak at responses, post yours and then browse.

Look forward to seeing some responses.

2005 - Tom Cruise goes nuts
2004 - That one guy was elected
2003 - ....

I lose.

In fairness to me, 2003 was awfully hazy.

I cant even think of something noteworthy in 2004. I think the pope was 2005 and we invaded Iraq in 2003. I need to watch more CNN.
