Default Pokerbots

I play on a site called pokerroom.com. On their site they use robot players. Typically games will have six or seven real players and two or three robots. I notice that the bots play tight and usually have a big hand when u play agians them. (They typically raise with big hands) I have noticed on occasion that they bluff though. Originally I thought it would be good to have them in the gamebecause I could raise with more hands and take control of the pot or reraise them and bluff them out. My question is does anyone else think like me that it is possible that the bots cannot be beat. Maybe they are programmed in line with proper game theory bluffing technique. In my opinion this is unfair because no one could beat them long run. Also they take away the potential for more customers. Anyones thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't like the idea of 'bots playing as on-line shills. Computerly speaking, it would be too easy for them to 'cheat' by knowing the cards. A company who makes their money from the rake shouldn't need 'bots to shill their games.

Just an opinion

I don't think a bot can beat an expert. However, a bot can beat a novice.

I agree with Spyder: your biggest concern should be the site's integrity.

Does the site admit they're bots?

I don't find the word "bot" anywhere on their site.

Ive played at pokerroom.com

What makes you think/know they use bots?

Ive been trying to chip away at the massive amount of points needed to claim my bonus.(1400 points for 200 bonus) This makes me weary.. I am up over a hundered playing 1-2 holdem.. perhaps I will just stop there.

Their software sucks imo, it crashes on me often if I have more then one table going. If I dont have a hand in play when it happens I lose my seat automatically as well.

PokerRoom.com has never used bots or shills. We haven't even used prop players, but it's possible that we will set up a prop program in the future.

Just because a player plays tight and doesn't chat, doesn't mean that he's a bot. A lot of players play that way, especially if they are playing at multiple tables at the same time (which is now possible with our new software).
