Default \"The Nuts\" - Andy Block vs. Lie Detector.

just saw that episode in this limit holdem WSOP on TV -

that was awesome - Andy is quizzing Penn Jillette and the machine's hooked up to him -

questions like "Was he a direct descendant of Captain Cook" - "Was he in the film Wall Street" - (both true, BTW) -

in the end - andy got 4 questions right and the lie detector got 5 -

but in the end, as they said - all it proves is that Penn Jillette is a good liar

It also shows that polygraphs are a fraud and a waste of time if they can't outperform humans better than that.

I liked him too. I also like his show "Bullshit" on Showtime. Then he did a segment where he said it was bullshit that second hand smoke was bad for people. He said it was all based on one incorrect survey done years ago. It was like tobacco propaganda from 1970. What it really comes down to is, he's a big cigar smoker and doesn't like to be told when he can light up. I lost respect for him.

That's an intelligent response. I guess 7 questions is rock solid proof that a human is just as good as a machine. LOL Give me a break. Give a good sample size of people 100k questions and give a machine the same amount and then make an educated guess.

Actually, the lie detector got every question right. The 4-5 was merely Andy's score and was completely independent of the lie detector. He wasn't actually competing against the lie detector.

There's a reason polygraphs aren't typically used as evidence in court. Not that they're entirely useless, but I wouldn't call them dependable either.

That can't be right, since Andy got the first two wrong.
