and what would be the seeding/ match-ups?

I think if they had a playoff, each major conference would get an automatic berth, like the BCS currently does.

Pac10: USC
Big12: Texas
Big10: PSU
ACC: FSU
SEC: Georgia
Big East: WVU

So that's 6. Now I think that the mid-majors and other conferences would bitch enough so that they would get 1 spot between them. And then probably the highest ranked remaining team.

So I'd see the 1st round matchups as (seeds), but decided by a selection committee:

#1 USC vs #8 TCU(?)
#2 Texas vs #7 FSU
#3 PSU vs #6 WVU
#4 OSU (at-large) vs #5 Georgia

Notre Dame could get in if they had 2 at-larges rather than a mid-major spot. Oregon still left out. That's my take.

He's using the predictor, which is forward-looking, rather than the ratings based on existing games that is used in the BCS formula. I also missed this at first.
