Default Re: Pokergoals 2005 - How are you doing?

Abysmally.

1. 200k - I'm at about 18k

2. Play in a WSOP limit event - Played in a WSOP circuit limit event (so sorta)

3. Play in the main event - not likely

4. 3bb/100 in the party 15 - On one hand probably not a realistic goal, on the other hand I'm not anywhere near it.

5. Venture into bigger online games - I wrote this specifically meaning not the Party 30, so unless the party 20 counts, no.

6. Improve my NL game substantially - Meh, I've made a little progress on this one and still have time, but I'm nowhere near a top tier player.

7. Play only my A game - Obviosuly no.

There were two other threads of this nature. I posted in the one in SS here

My goals were:
[ QUOTE ]
Within a year I want to...

-Be playing multiple 15/30 tables and winning.
-Be significantly better than I am now, and continuting to learnd and improve.
-Have enough of a roll to play 20/40 live.
-Have enough balls to play the above mentioned games.

-Have a real job.

[/ QUOTE ]

1. I'm not playing 15/30 yet, although I tried it for a while. I'm playing 10/20 6max, but I feel like this is very similar, and I'm not sure if I want to return to full ring right away. Now that there are more 6max options I may stick with this for a while. Therefore, I consider this goal basically accomplished. I thik I'm beating 10/20 6m, I am so far anyway...we'll see.

2. I am better than I was and I'm still learning. I don't know If I'm content with how much improved, but then again, if I ever am, it sort of defeats the purpose of the goal. This may be one of those that should never be staisfied.

3. Got that.

4. Yes. Even thought I haven't done it yet, it's only b/c the opportunity hasn't presented itself. I'm ready to play it. Next time I'm in a casino that spreads it...

5. Yup got that too.

Cool, I'm doing pretty well, maybe my goals weren't lofty enough.

mine was "play less, study more." (in terms of school). i guess i achieved my goal but mainly because i went abroad and didn't have a computer.

sthief said he had the same goal but replaced "play" with "post." he has since had 15,000 posts. way to go ST!

started on party with 25 NL, busted the first day, put 50 more in that night, grinded to around 800-1000...moved to 50nl grinded to 3000...hit a hovering/slide period for about 2-3 weeks and fell to ~2000 in late may, switched to empire and picked up a good rake back deal, moved to 4 tabling 100nl at the begining of june now i'm flyin...new target's 30k BR by christmas and to start grinding the 400s.

I couldnt find my post (or if I made one) but on another forum I said my goals for this year were:

-Finally improve my online game

-Stop playing 2-4 live and move up in limits

-Play NL tournaments more often, and obvious improve in that field as well.

Well now it's July, lets see how i've done.

1. My Online game has significantly improved, but i'm still far from where I want to be. I'm re-reading SSHE and slowing mastering .50/1 and 1/2 tables. It's not much but it's a big jump from how terrible I used to play.

2. Actually, I've played worse live since this year started. This could be because I havent really had much time down in Atlantic City (i've only gone down there maybe a handful of times this year) and it's simple variance. I'm moving down there in September, though I plan on sticking mainly to online as far as ring games go. but that takes me to part 3.

I've read HOH and have noticed a huge improvement in my Tournament results. I havent made a final table yet, but i've come really close and I feel more confident playing. I used to get a decent stack early and then tighten up way too much and become short stacked. Now I play in relation to the blinds and have come closer and closer to getting the results i've looked for. When I move down to AC I plan on playing a few live tournaments here and there when I have extra money.

Overall, i'm content with my progress. I don't spend as much time at this game compared to some of the people on here. I wish I could but i'm pretty far from the average skill level on here.

I can't wait for the December thread.

Since this is my first year of poker, my january goal was to not be a losing player. check!

Made it to 1/2 a month ago and hit a big losing streak. Regrouped and am playing .5/1 at party. My new goals are 2/4 by the end of the summer (should be back to 1/2 in a couple of weeks), and hopefully 5/10 by the end of the year.
