There was a Mexican Poker book I looked at sold at the Gambler's General Store. Also try the Gambler's Book Club. Both are in Vegas.

Been watching the 2/4 mexican poker game and it looks pretty interesting, the pots are huge and a otn of calling station, but I dont even know the rules... is there any good books on it/mention it or any sites on some basic strategy? thanks [/ QUOTE ] The rules aren't standardized, but here are the most common rules: It's played with a 41-card deck: you remove the 8s, 9s, and 10s (4567J, 567JQ, 67JQK, and 7JQKA count as straights) and add one joker. It's basically like 5-stud, except for the partial deck, the joker, and the fact that you have the option of exposing your downcard after any betting round and getting your next card dealt face down. The joker is totally wild if it's dealt to you face down, even if you later expose it. If the joker is dealt face up, it counts as an ace or it can be used to complete a straight or flush. When you're deciding who has the high board for the purposes of starting off the action, the joker ranks higher than an ace. Sometimes it's played with a full deck, or with a joker that's always wild whether it's dealt face up or down. |
